So the festival is this weekend!!!!!!!!!! Since actual St. Patrick's Day is Wednesday, and that's not a good day to drink, it's going to be celebrated this weekend.
Now I myself have never gone to St. Patty's in Five Points but I want to go this year. I hear there are live bands and green beer and all around fun. But all that being said --- I NEED YOUR HELP!
I need some advice from the veterans. Can anyone tell me what I should be… Continue

Yes, that’s right- another Rose. Two weeks in a row. I wasn’t kidding
when I said I was going to drink Rose every day until Spring decides to
stay. Today was nice, but I’m still holding out for a nice 70
degrees. You may as well know- I go through phases a lot, and right
now I’m in a Rose phase. Call it the phase, call it whatever, BUT the
Mulderbosch Rose and this Domaine de Nizas Rose from Languedoc (aka The
‘Doc) are two of the BEST wines I’ve had recently- and they’re as
different as night a… Continue

I saw this ad from Allure and loved the look, especially the skinny jeans and the jacket because they are essential pieces that you can mix and match and create several other looks to keep you looking tight all spring and possibly (definitely for me) fall
So, spring break is coming up for most of us. That means it's time to make plans (if you haven't already). Though, if you're anything like me, you've procrastinated and now you're ready to make some plans! I know for USC our spring break starts in a week so I sure did put my procrastinator's title to the test. Though it's never to late to have a great Spring Break! Plans or not!
I've been doing some research on my own and here ar… Continue

Welcome to another edition of Wine Snobbery! It is not noon, for once, as I write this- it is about 10:30 and I’m enjoying my post-work ritual which involves listening to laundry dry while I half-watch
something bad on television. Tonight it is “16 and Pregnant.” There
are so many things I could say about this show, but I will leave it at-
don’t be a hater- you know it’s addictive. Besides, I have a few brain
cells to spare.
For the past twelve years, Historic Columbia Foundation has hosted the Palladium Society's Chili Cook-Off. The event has grown in size each year. I remember when we started in the Seibels House on Richland Street. The event was pretty intimate but was nice for the 75-100 or so groups of family and friends who attended. Well today, we can boasts that the event brings in more than 500 people! We are now hosting it at the Ellison Building on the SC State Fairgrounds in Columbia.
Fashion Week is almost over and some great designers already had their runway shows.
What did you think so far? Hit or miss? Not that it really matters, because liking it or not we're most likely to be wearing the commercial water down version of these designer trends anyways. Isn't that what Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) told us in The Devil Wears Prada?
Nonetheless, every year we still look, dream, or hate it away (or at least I do - less hating and more dreaming actually… Continue

This post might only hit home to a few of you. If you just happened to stumble into my blog from a search engine, you might find another review that is more informative elsewhere. That’s fine. But if you
care to read on, I will of course touch on how great this wine is,
share a few tasting notes, and give it my ringing endorsement. It’s
awesome. It’s an amazing value at $12. It got 90 points from Wine
Spectator, and was the number 62 wine of last year. It rocks!
It seems that technology is changing at warp speed now... this, of course, is not a new concept! Waaaay back when I was at Carnegie Mellon, at the turn of the century, my professors used to quip that "if you can buy it on the market it's already outdated." But truly, they had no idea that in less than 10 years we would be able to walk around with what they try to bill as "mini computers" in our pockets
I've been getting a TON of invites on Facebook to some super cool sounding events/parties to celebrate Super Bowl 44 (I don't know the roman numerals) and watch the Saints take on the Colts (Sun., Feb. 7 at p.m.). And yes, of course I'll share. If you know of something going on for the Super Bowl that isn't listed below, let us know!

Once again I find myself sipping wine at a fairly uncivilized hour. This is becoming a pattern. Today it’s not even noon! But really, I am just sipping a sip or two to refresh my memory on this wine, as I have sipped on several glasses at more normal sipping times during the past week. As I often say to the staff at Cellar, I am “revisiting” this wine this morning. “Revisit” is a term I invented when for there are no official “new” wines to taste, but we are in need of a, as Stump Johnson would… Continue

I called on our friend Dr. Clary from The Eye Center to answer MY questions about Latisse, the product advertised ALL over television right now that claims to give you thicker, lusher eyelashes. Dr. Clary also gives us the 411 on eyelid skin darkening (a side effect listed in the commercial that definitely caught my attention).
WHAT IS LATISSE?DOES LATISSE WORK?… Continue

So, here I am in the office. It’s barely noon as I write this, and yet I am dipping into a magnificent glass of wine. I know, I know… I am at work, and it’s early. But tonight is my night off! and this wine is just too good. I couldn’t possibly write about it thoughtfully without drinking some. Surely impossible, and inauthentic. So I consider it an occupational hazard that I must endure for the time being. Poor me.
It occurred to me this morning that I have not blogged about a Chardonnay yet.… Continue

Don’t be surprised if you feel oddly out of place when viewing Frederick Wiseman’s film, La Danse, opening at the Nickelodeon Theatre on Wednesday night. The sensations evoked when watching a Wiseman film must be akin to something one might experience in a limited time travel situation. Limited in that the subject matter and singular grouping of locations never change – think the various wings and wards of a hospital, the corridors and classrooms of a high school – but approximating time travel… Continue

If you’re like me, it’s hard to think about anything but Christmas these days — wrapping, eating, unwrapping, eating some more. But the calendar does go on after Christmas Eve, and just two weeks beyond then, there’s an arts event you want to go ahead and mark on your calendars. I’m particularly partial to this event because I got to help put it together and, consequently, I get to show off some of my favorite people whose works help make your city such a great place to live.
I’m talking about… Continue
